Landmark Group, one of the largest retailers in the Middle East and India, announced the launch of a
new mid-market, budget hotel concept – Citymax Hotels at the Arabian Travel Market Fair and Exhibition,
held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre.
Aimed at the business traveler, Citymax Hotels will offer modern hospitality at extraordinary value,
bridging the gap in the value-driven mid-market segment in the Middle East. Plans are already underway
to open three hotels in Dubai and Sharjah by December 2009. The first of these hotels is scheduled to
open by October 2009. The hotel is centrally located in Bur Dubai between Kuwait Street and Al Mankhool Road,
and will have 693 rooms. The other two hotels located in Al Barsha next to the Mall of the Emirates – with
378 rooms and Abu Shagara in Sharjah on Al Wahda Road – with 260 rooms, are scheduled to open in
November 2009.
The launch of the three Citymax Hotel is the start of an ambitious plan to open a chain of budget hotels
across the UAE in the next few years.
Michael Weyland – General Manager of the Hotel Division of Landmark Gulf Group said, “The hotels will
cater to discerning business travelers who seek convenience, efficiency and comfort at great value.
Centrally located, the hotels will provide the services and facilities of a 4-star hotel in a 3-star budget.
Citymax aims to trim the costly frills and redirect its savings to its customers.”
In keeping with the overall objective of convenience and comfort for a business traveler, all the rooms
will have high speed internet connections, 32” LCD televisions, power showers, refrigerators, safes, room
service and thick 10” mattresses for exceptional comfort. Depending on its location, the hotels will
also have Indian, Chinese / Thai restaurants, all-day dining, coffee shops, gymnasium, pool business
centers, lounge & sports bars, and entertainment centers for live performances, karaoke and special
DJ nights. Besides these amenities, there will also be a 24-hour convenience store for further ease of
the hotel’s guests.
Mr. Weyland added, “I believe that the core differentiator of the hotels is its transparent pricing.
Room rates will be consistent throughout the year enabling the traveler to plan his or her trip well
in advance. This is especially relevant for corporate’s who want to budget and plan travel itineraries
of their employees well in advance without any nasty surprises of increased tariffs.”
