6 Things To Do In Sharjah Without Breaking The Bank

30 July 2018

Dubai may be all about the glitz and glam, but Sharjah’s got an authentic vibe with lots of great places to check out. Here are some things you should check out in the underrated emirate of the UAE while staying with us at Citymax Hotel Sharjah:

Sharjah National Park

If you enjoy greenery, this is the place for you! Stroll through over 100 acres of Sharjah’s largest park and take in the beauty of all the flora and fauna around you. Entry is only AED 2 per head!
Sharjah National Park is a 15 minute drive from Citymax Hotel Sharjah.

Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park

This one’s a family attraction you won’t want to miss! Splash away at UAE’s first adventure park which consists of a lazy river, a wading pool and a play structure for the young ones. There’s also a rope course for the older visitors and plenty of terraces for those seeking a sun-kissed look.
Al Montazah Water Park is just a 9 minute drive from Citymax Hotel Sharjah. Let the fun begin!

Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization holds thousands of rare and important Islamic artifacts. Here, you can admire the timeless achievements of Islamic civilization and its universality, learn about aspects of Islamic faith, science, discoveries and culture, and cherish the beauty of Islamic art. Children under 2 years enter for free, children between 2-12 years enter for AED 5 and adults enter for AED 10.
The museum is an 11 minute drive from Citymax Hotel Sharjah.

Qanat Al Qasba

The Qanat Al Qasba area is a hub of activity, home to some of Sharjah’s most interesting and exciting tourist attractions. The main draw is the Maraya Art Centre, curated by famous Italian artist Giuseppe Moscatello and houses three floors of exhibitions, ranging from canvases to digital pieces and multimedia projects. The most insta-worthy part of the Qasba is the Eye of the Emirates, the 60m tall ferris wheel that presents views over the whole of Sharjah and is one of the area’s most visible landmarks. Thankfully, each cabin is air-conditioned.
Qanat Al Qasba is an 8 minute drive from Citymax Hotel Sharjah.

Arabian Wildlife Centre

Since Sharjah is part of the desert region, it boasts a truly unique array of wildlife, all of which can be spotted at the Arabian Wildlife Center. The center is split into three areas: mammals, reptiles and insects (a range of creepy crawlies). This center is more than just a zoo; it was created in order to help repopulate certain species with its breeding program and educate visitors on the dangers of extinction and endangerment. In the Children’s Farm, younger visitors can get hands-on experience by petting and feeding less exotic animals such as ponies, goats and camels.
Entry is AED 15 for adults, AED 5 for kids aged 12 – 15, and free for under 12s.
The Arabian Wildlife Center is a 30 minute drive from Citymax Hotel Sharjah.

Al Mamzar Beach Park

Clean white beaches, supervised changing rooms, plenty of shade AND air-conditioned chalets to rent if you need to escape the heat for a bit – Al Mamzar Beach Park is definitely a hidden gem. If you prefer fresh water to salty, you can leave the sea and splash about in the swimming pool instead. The entry charge is AED 5 per head. Al Mamzar Beach Park is a 15 minute drive from Citymax Hotel Sharjah.
