Dubai’s Hidden Gems

The UAE is known for breaking world records – it’s almost considered a national pastime! The biggest, the first, the tallest – we’ve got it all. Here are some of the coolest world records that the UAE currently holds:
This one we’re sure you knew about, and it’s definitely on your itinerary! The 830m tall skyscraper is world famous and also includes the tallest service elevator, the highest restaurant and the highest outdoor observation deck.
The Dubai Mall isn’t your average shopping mall… Thousands of retail stores, a 10 litre aquarium, theme parks and an Olympic size ice rink take up 5.9 million square metres.
Insider tip: The best way to see the Dubai Fountains is from the Apple store in the Dubai Mall!
Skiing in a mall… in a desert? It’s all possible in Dubai! Ski Dubai is located in the Mall of the Emirates and the indoor marvel includes 85 metre mountains with slopes.
Driving at 240kmph seems a bit unlikely, but you can experience thrill at that same speed on the Formula Rossa in Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World, located on Yas Island. It’s the rollercoaster ride you’ll remember for the rest of your life!
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a beautiful, cultural experience. There is a custom-made Persian carpet that covers the 5,700 sqm of the prayer hall, which is the largest in the world. The mosque also holds the world records for the largest chandelier and the largest dome of its kind. The Grand Mosque is free to enter, and we definitely recommend visiting! Make sure to wear respectable clothing though.
Inside Tip: The mosque has very informative free guided tours. Also, try visiting during sunset so you can enjoy the beauty of the mosque during the day and night when it’s beautifully lit-up.
If you’re visiting Dubai with family, IMG Worlds of Adventure NEEDS to be part of your itinerary. The theme park covers 1.5 million square feet, and includes a 12-screen multiplex cinema, 5D movie screenings and a haunted hotel. The adrenaline rush is likely to work up an appetite – we suggest an authentic meal at Flavours At Arabia, located inside IMG.
Make sure to check out their website for the latest deals – IMG has exciting activations and offers for Halloween, Christmas and even National Day. They’ve also got an annual pass for only AED 383, which is great value if you plan to come back again!
The Dubai Frame is considered an engineering marvel due to the spectacular views of old and new Dubai that it offers. The golden structure is a stunning addition to the Dubai skyline, and attracts about 200 visitors per hour.
The world’s largest flower arrangement is located in the beautiful Miracle Garden, and is in the shape of an Airbus A380.
Insider Tip: You can reach there via public transport from the Mall of the Emirates.
The Huddle Sports Bar in Citymax Hotel Bur Dubai broke this insanely cool world record! The longest domino drop shot comprised of 4,578 shot glasses and was organised to celebrate the 5th anniversary of our favourite sports bar!
