Things to do in Dubai during Ramadan
7 May 2019
If you’re sick of the hot, humid weather and at a loss for fun things to do in Dubai, we have some great ideas for you, all of which involve being in the comfort of air conditioning and away from the harsh sun. Dubai Summer Surprises, the city’s annual shopping and entertainment festival, returns from 21st June to 3rd August 2019, which means you’re in for six action-packed weeks of incredible shopping deals and family-friendly activities!
Dubai’s long-awaited shopping extravaganza sees over 700 brands across 3,000 outlets offer discounts of 25%-75% throughout the period. Check things off your ‘must-have’ list or buy one-of-a-kind gifts for loved ones – this shopping season is the perfect excuse to spend without guilt.
If you are a gadget freak, Dubai Summer Surprises offers unbeatable rates on electronics, making it the perfect time to splurge. We suggest getting the Sony PS4 Slim from Sharaf DG – at 20% off, it works up to only AED 1,339 which is a STEAL! You can even pay for it in installments. Click here to find out what store is closest to you.
If you’re Apple-obsessed, you can choose to get an iPhone XS for just AED 3,149 when you opt for the trade-in scheme at the Apple Store in Dubai Mall or Mall of the Emirates.
Maybe tech isn’t your thing. Are you shopping for clothes? The Athleisure trend isn’t going away any time soon, and you should get your perfect pair of leggings if you don’t own them already! Summer or winter, the laidback street-style trend makes sportswear chic – even if you’re not working out. Women wearing yoga pants on the go is what started the athleisure trend, so having a collection of comfy, stretchy leggings is a MUST. It’s especially perfect for travelling or hot weather, when comfort is of utmost importance. Check out lululemon athletica for muted, psychedelic prints. Available at Lululemon outlets with great deals this Dubai Summer Surprises!
Keeping kids entertained in Dubai in the peak of summer is no easy task, but this Dubai Summer Surprises, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
If you’ve been in Dubai for a few years, you’ll know that Dubai Summer Surprises is almost synonymous with our local yellow cartoon character – MODHESH! Modhesh World is one of Dubai’s largest indoor family ‘edutainment’ destinations which is free to enter this year. Back for its 20th edition from 21 June to 17 August 2019 at Dubai World Trade Centre, Modhesh World features a unique space for guests to climb, ride, skate, drive, create, read, explore and eat. Thrilling rides and live performances make Modhesh World a treat for parents and little ones alike!
The most common place for families to spend time in Dubai summers is shopping malls, but you can do more than just shopping in the malls.
Cool down at Mall of the Emirates by taking to the slopes of indoor ski resort Ski Dubai. Enjoy an exhilarating ride on the Snow Bullet as it takes you to 16 metres above ground, or pop over to say hello to the resident penguins. You can even cozy up together as a family over some hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows at Avalanche Café, our favourite hidden gem at the mall, which features a breathtaking view of the slopes. You’ll almost forget you’re in a shopping mall in a desert!
Want to catch the latest summer blockbusters at Vox Cinemas? Pick from Theatre by Rhodes, where you can enjoy a menu designed by Michelin star chef Gary Rhodes, take your family to kid-friendly screening rooms or try the thrilling ‘4DX’ multisensory viewing experience.
If you’re not in the mood for a movie, drop the kids off at VOX and treat yourself to some tranquility with a massage at Shine Spa at Sheraton Mall of the Emirates, so you can be fully energized before you shop till you drop! We recommend a superfood facial treatment or a nourishing nectar body wrap.
Are you an adventure-seeking family? One of Dubai’s favourite indoor family entertainment centres, Magic Planet has a whole new world of arcade games, rides, and hands-on activities like rock climbing. Kids of all ages – and their parents – can easily spend a few hours enjoying the bumper cars this Dubai Summer Surprises!
Maybe you’ve been here a while, and done all this. Looking for an unusual or different activity to do with the fam? The Smash Room is an activity where you can break, shatter, stomp and – of course – smash a variety of objects, from glass to electronics.
The venue located in Al Quoz, is throwing open its doors for families with a special Dubai Summer Surprises package that starts from AED200. For this reduced price, two adults and two children can smash their way through 40 glasses and two electronic items – a package that would normally cost over AED400 for two guests and fewer objects. Take a swing at this amazing offer, which is only valid till 4th August 2019. The Smash Room promises a fun day out for all, and makes it easy by providing all the protective clothing, helmets and gloves you’ll need.
Maybe you’re sick of the malls, all the action and just want to kick back and relax. Then you could catch Indian Idols perform live in Dubai! It’s a great evening out with music.
After successful tours in Canada and the UK, stars of the hit reality show Indian Idols will host an exclusive performance in Dubai on 27 June, 2019.
Neelanjana Ray, Nitin Kumar and Salman Ali will entertain fans at the Indian High School’s Sheikh Rashid Auditorium where the audience can enjoy breathtaking vocals and the very best of South Asian culture and entertainment. Don’t miss this musical extravaganza with Sufi pop/rock music this Dubai Summer Surprises!
